Snatch blocks reduce the load placed on a winch when performing a recovery or to avoid damage when changing the direction of the cable.
The snatch block has two outer steel casings which swivel apart and allow the winch cable to be placed over the pulley wheel. Attach snatch blocks to appropriately rated recovery accessories such as tree trunk protectors or extension straps. Connection should be made using rated Bow or D shackles through the eyelets on the two outer casings of the snatch block.
8000kg capacity, heavy duty neoprene storage bag for protection when not in use.
Includes Dowel Bearing With Grease Fitting
Doubles line pull
Aids in angled pulls
Reduces heat buildup & amp draw
Works with any winch
* BEFORE USE: Snatch blocks increase the pulling capacity by 1.5 times for each snatch block used. When using a snatch block your line pull speed is reduced.

Tree trunk protectors are designed to protect the tree being used as an anchor point for your recovery.
If you use anything other than a tree trunk protector you risk damaging both the tree and your winching line, and over time may also cause the tree to die.
• 4.7 tonne working load limit • Fits 2″ hitch receiver • Bow shackle rated to 4.7 tonne |
Shackles are an essential recovery item and you can never have too many of them. They are most commonly used to attach recovery straps, tree trunk protectors, winch extension straps & snatch blocks. The larger 4.7 tonne shackles are best suited to electric winch recovery situations.
High visibility.
Max capacity 4700kg
Size: 19mm pin 4.7T
W.L.L. compliant with AS/NZS 2741.2002 load requirements.
* A shackle’s break point is six times the WLL (working load limit) when compliant with the standard.
TIP: To avoid seizing the screw pin, its always a good idea to back off about 1/2 to 1 turn after fully hand tightening. Shackle pins can seize due to the force exerted during recovery operations.
Before use: Inspect shackles before and after use for any damage. If pins are hard to turn or the shackle has been overstressed, it should be immediately replaced.
Caution: Shackles can become a lethal missile if something should break or fail during a recovery. Ensure that all spectators are well clear and all recovery lines have a dampening blanket on them (Refer page 41). Never load a shackle across its width because the load will be imposed on the threads. The force must be at right angles to the pin.
An extension strap is the ideal accessory to any winch, either hand or electric. They are used to extend the length of a winch cable should it not be long enough to anchor to a suitable recovery point once fully extended.
Size: 10m x 60mm.
8000kg minimum breaking strength.
Blue polyester webbing.
Reinforced eyelets protectors.
2x Neoprene stitching protectors
Our heavy duty 8,000kg eight piece recovery kit has been developed for those who demand more from their 4WD experience.
Based on the popular 8 piece standard recovery kit, the premium kit upgrades to an 8 tonne snatch strap and two 4.75 tonne heavy duty bow shackles, an 8 tonne extension strap, and a 12 tonne tree trunk protector, as well as the new look large recovery bag to store it all in.
Having a fully stocked and properly maintained recovery kit is an essential accessory for any 4WD enthusiast. It is very important to have quick and easy accessibility to all your recovery equipment.
Each Mean Mother recovery kit has been carefully tailored to include the correct equipment for most recovery situations. Best suited to the 4WD enthusiast who has a winch fitted to their vehicle. Designed to maximise winch capabilities, performance and versatility. This 8 piece kit offers the ability to self recover or perform a snatching recovery.
All Mean Mother snatch straps are tested to meet the highest quality and strength standards. They are manufactured from 100% treated nylon webbing with reinforced eyelets to prolong operational life.
Similar to a rubber band, a snatch strap being stretched between two vehicles generates a kinetic energy pulling force as the strap returns to its original length. The combination of the recovery vehicle pull and the pulling force from the strap creates a “snatching” effect that can heave a stranded vehicle free from being bogged or unable to move under its own power.
Note! When using a snatch strap carefully follow the safety guidelines set out in the instruction sheet included with each kit.
When used in accordance with the “Guidelines for safe use of vehicle Recovery Straps”, vehicles may be recovered with minimal risk of injury to people or damage to vehicle equipment.
All Mean Mother snatch straps are made from quality nylon webbing with 20% elongation. All our snatch straps meet Australian standards.

Minimum Breaking Strength (MBS)
It is recommended that the minimum breaking strength of the strap/rope should be between 2 and 3 times the vehicle’s gross vehicle mass (GVM) *GVM means the maximum loaded mass (including the vehicle’s chassis, body, engine, engine fluids, fuel, accessories, driver, passengers and cargo) of a vehicle as specified by the vehicle manufacturer on a plate affixed to the vehicle or assessed by the road authorities in the absence of a plate.
When using a snatch strap carefully follow the safety guidelines set out in the instruction sheet included with each kit.
