Shackles are an essential recovery item and you can never have too many of them. They are most commonly used to attach recovery straps, tree trunk protectors, winch extension straps & snatch blocks. The larger 4.7 tonne shackles are best suited to electric winch recovery situations.
High visibility.
Max capacity 4700kg
Size: 19mm pin 4.7T
W.L.L. compliant with AS/NZS 2741.2002 load requirements.
* A shackle’s break point is six times the WLL (working load limit) when compliant with the standard.
TIP: To avoid seizing the screw pin, its always a good idea to back off about 1/2 to 1 turn after fully hand tightening. Shackle pins can seize due to the force exerted during recovery operations.
Before use: Inspect shackles before and after use for any damage. If pins are hard to turn or the shackle has been overstressed, it should be immediately replaced.
Caution: Shackles can become a lethal missile if something should break or fail during a recovery. Ensure that all spectators are well clear and all recovery lines have a dampening blanket on them (Refer page 41). Never load a shackle across its width because the load will be imposed on the threads. The force must be at right angles to the pin.

Our 11,000kg eight piece recovery kit has been developed for those who demand more from their 4WD experience. Based on the popular eight piece standard recovery kit, the premium kit upgrades to an 11 tonne snatch strap and two 4.75 tonne heavy duty bow shackles, a 4.5 tonne extension strap, and a 6.5 tonne tree trunk protector, as well as the new look large recovery bag to store it all in.
Having a fully stocked and properly maintained recovery kit is an essential accessory for any 4WD enthusiast. It is very important to have quick and easy accessibility to all your recovery equipment. Each Mean Mother recovery kit has been carefully tailored to include the correct equipment for most recovery situations. Best suited to the 4WD enthusiast who has a winch fitted to their vehicle. Designed to maximise winch capabilities, performance and versatility. This 8 piece kit offers the ability to self recover or perform a snatching recovery.
All Mean Mother snatch straps are tested to meet the highest quality and strength standards. They are manufactured from 100% treated nylon webbing with reinforced eyelets to prolong operational life. Similar to a rubber band, a snatch strap being stretched between two vehicles generates a kinetic energy pulling force as the strap returns to its original length. The combination of the recovery vehicle pull and the pulling force from the strap creates a “snatching” effect that can heave a stranded vehicle free from being bogged or unable to move under its own power.
Note! When using a snatch strap carefully follow the safety guidelines set out in the instruction sheet included with each kit.
When used in accordance with the “Guidelines for safe use of vehicle Recovery Straps”, vehicles may be recovered with minimal risk of injury to people or damage to vehicle equipment.
All Mean Mother snatch straps are made from quality nylon webbing with 20% elongation. All our snatch straps meet Australian standards.
The equaliser strap has been designed to evenly distribute the load on your vehicle during a recovery operation when connected to two rated recovery points. They are generally used in conjunction with a snatch strap or extension strap. Mean Mother equaliser straps are equipped with a moveable protective sleeve on the strap webbing.
